SHELTER FROM THE STORM
August 10th @ 6pm
TUKO Kitchen and Bar
Home cycles is a series of hypnotic, one-shot journeys through the streets of Footscray and Seddon filmed from the back of a bike. A continuous motion memory of a beloved, gritty, always changing inner west neighbourhood with its rich, working class and migrant history. Dog walkers, families in parks, shoppers, lovers, locals strolling by, street art, homes, shops and industry are the heroes. Captured for a moment on an ordinary/extraordinary day.
As a visual communicator I draw on every sight and experience to inform my practice. As a cyclist, I feel a unique connection to the streets. I have a deep love for the supposed ordinary - the texture and colour of everyday life. I’m finally, for the first time in my life, doing nearly all of my living in the same neighbourhood. Every day I cycle from home to work, do my shopping and socialise all within 2 km. It’s my happiness loop. Every day I see changes. I take a lot of photographs. Capture moments in time.
